Suspended MCRC Executive Director to Stand Trial
The
Monroe County Republican official recently arrested in connection
with the ongoing Robutrad Corp. scandal was back in court
Thursday. Suspended Monroe County Republican Committee (MCRC)
executive director, Andrew Moore, is now scheduled to stand trial
March 15th..
Moore’s charged with felony rewarding official misconduct and
misdemeanor charges of official misconduct and coercion.
He’s accused of coercing a Democratic Robutrad worker into writing
a letter of support for a Republican candidate for county
legislature.
The Democrat, Christopher Gorman, had unsuccessfully challenged
Webster Republican Dave Malta twice in the past.
The letter dates back to 2007.
"The allegations are around one essential date and they involve
one essential grouping of actions relating to the letter. So, I
think I can comfortably say the letter is a portion of each
count," Assistant District Attorney William Gargan said.
In documents submitted to the court, Moore told an investigator
he, "Never made any type of threat to Gorman regarding having him
sign the letter."
Moore is the first high-ranking member of the county GOP to be
charged in connection with the Robutrad scandal.
Fifteen trades workers were arrested in December, accused of doing
non-county jobs for family and friends of connected republicans at
the taxpayers expense.
So far four have pleaded guilty.
Moore continues to serve as a member of the Penfield Town
Board.
When asked if he’d like to say anything to constituents, Moore
said, “I’m all set. Thank You.”
- And here is what the MCRC contributed to Moore for 2008 -
does this see a bit high..??
