The new owner is Bill Spector, he used to own Leo's Elite Bakery.
You can deffinitely tell the creativity and style differences.
I went in there yesterday to pick up a wrap I ordered and there
was an ATM in the dining area, as small as the room is puts in an ATM,
or at least I am assuming it was his doing. Also, the previous owners,
Rachel and Jonathan Amoia had a very contemporary style that was
unique to Hyjea, it is evident that is no longer the case, the minute you
walk in or look at the place you know something is different, its a turn off.
I do however still LOVE the food equally as well as the employees,
so I keep going back.

If I had to make an assumption on why Hyjea sold out it would be based on no money in owning a restaurant in today's economy. very few are doing well these days. I think more restaurants will be selling or just closing their doors. Especially in the Four Corners area. Terrible location for a successful long term restaurant.

I think the original owner was trying to create a branding with the intention of selling off as a franchise. I doubt that he ever really had intentions of staying as a restaurant owner.
